The Ministry of Economy and Planning, in collaboration with the University of Chicago, recently hosted a workshop that delved into the significance of research and innovation in shaping public policy, with the aim of achieving greater impact and improved outcomes in the Kingdom. 

An essential outcome of the session was the identification of key research areas crucial for the advancement of the Saudi economy. This included addressing critical challenges, establishing a clear timeline and implementation plan, as well as defining roles and areas of responsibility.

The workshop aimed to establish connections between key government leaders and top researchers from the University of Chicago. This objective was realized through knowledge exchange related to the academic institution's research across various domains, and identifying how the research can be applied within Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Economy and Planning and the University of Chicago have embarked on a multi-year research partnership focused on the use of data and research to design more effective policy interventions. 

This collaboration with the University of Chicago aligns with the Ministry of Economy and Planning's core mission of formulating evidence-based growth policies in collaboration with local and international entities. 

It also aims to foster growth and innovation within the private sector while advancing the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, contributing to the strengthening of economic growth and diversification in the Kingdom​. 

Established in 1890, the University of Chicago is a renowned academic institution in the United States, with globally esteemed faculty in economics consistently earning prestigious acclaim, including Nobel Laureates among its faculty.​
